| Mansfield High School was one of many that was used during the time of segregation, and was used until the opening of Mansfield Elementery/Middle School. At one time, a fire started inside the school, and the burn marks are visible in the picture above. The fire supposedly killed a few of the students that were in summer school, as well as two janitors. The school does have a basement, but its flooded out. As an unfortunate update, the Mansfield School has been demolished to make way for the expansion of Highway 171. I hate to break the news, but in the mean time, Google Maps still has not updated apparently so the 2 above pictures are snapshot I took from Street View. They're kind of blurry, but I think they will work. Thanks to Matt for the info and pictures |
